Praying The Word

By training young ones to root their prayers in Scripture, they are learning to pray the very heart of God. The Bible teaches us that we often pray out of our own understanding and can ask the Lord for things with impure motives. Praying the Word prays God’s mind about things. Furthermore, praying Bible prayers with a tender heart establishes correct theology as young ones are learning to know His nature and His ways. Rather than common ground found in opinion, true agreement can be facilitated as God’s wisdom over natural circumstances is elevated. At The Daniel Academy, we seek to train our students to be lovers of His word and to use it as a platform for conversation and petition with The Father.

Singing The Word

When God wanted the children of Israel to remember His commandments and His ways, He told Moses to write a song (Deut. 32:1-43). “Singing the Word writes it on our hearts in a unique and lasting way” Lelonnie Hibberd, Children’s Pastor at The Kansas City Daniel Academy, shares. Besides being an amazing tool for memorization, singing unites our mind and emotions, enabling meditation on Scripture in a heightened way. Students at The Daniel Academy will practice engagement with God’s word through song and meditate on His word through music.

Listening To The Lord

The Scripture is replete with examples of God breaking in and speaking to His people from Genesis to Revelation. The power and truth of God’s word is not limited or determined by a person’s age. The life of the prophet Samuel teaches us that even a child can hear and be used mightily by the Lord. When God spoke to Samuel, He didn’t speak light things but gave the boy a very serious message to pass onto Eli, the priest.

The Lord, who knows each of us as individuals, longs to have relationship with us, and as our Shepherd, knows just how to speak to our hearts. Students will be encouraged in a non-pressured atmosphere to take time to wait and listen to what the Spirit is saying. They will be equipped to measure what they are hearing to the plumb line of the Word and trained how to release what they are hearing as encouragement from the Lord to those around them.
